Personally I’ve had this happen to me and it confused the fu** out of me as to why when I’m on such a high spec machine with an SSD. I used to open Chrome and yes the application itself would open however, I’d be waiting on the starting page with the Google icon and most visited websites.
One day… I noticed the ‘Downloading Proxy Script…’ in the left hand corner of the screen as the ‘webpage’ itself would just stay white until it finished doing this (sometimes could take around 5-10 minutes!!)
After a little reseach online and some self-testing I found the answer to my problems. Follow the steps below if you’re also experiencing the same issues I was.
- Click the Chrome menu button on the browser toolbar
- Select Settings
- Click Show advanced settings
- In the “Network” section, click Change proxy settings. This will open the Windows Internet Properties dialog
- Click LAN settings
- Deselect the “Automatically detect settings” checkbox
